Suriname stands as the only nation maintaining over 90% of its original forest, a remarkable environmental feat. To preserve this legacy, new legislation is being crafted to declare millions of hectares as protected areas. However, these forests currently face unprecedented threats, including agriculture, mining, and road development. Addressing this, Re:wild, in collaboration with the Amazon Conservation Team (ACT) and the newly formed local NGO Wildlife and People, is empowering South Suriname's Indigenous communities, particularly the Trio people, to protect their ancestral lands.

Amigos de Iracambi is an initiative focusing on restoring Brazil's Atlantic Rainforest by planting 35,000 trees and enhancing water conservation. They collaborate with smallholder farms to convert degraded lands and develop forest corridors near Serra do Brigadeiro State Park, while educating local students and leaders on environmental conservation.

Terrafund for AFR100 is an initiative by One Tree Planted and its partners. The goal is to help local people in Africa to grow trees, which will in turn develop sustainable livelihoods that create an alternative to deforestation, and enhance their livelihoods. This initiative consists of two organizations, Kijabe Forest Trust and Fairtree.org, both located in Kenya. Kijabe Forest Trust restores trees and combats illegal activities in Kijabe Forest with local scouts while Fairtree.org empowers small community groups with its Pay-to-Grow system to plant trees efficiently using digital tools.

This initiative consists of two organizations Herp Ghana and Hen Mpoano. Herp Ghana focuses on amphibian conservation through habitat restoration and community engagement, through tree planting and income enhancement for rural communities. Hen Mpoano supports coastal communities through integrated management of coastal and marine ecosystems, emphasizing mangrove restoration, beekeeping, and organic farming for environmental conservation.

ARBIO Peru is an organization led by women, safeguarding 916 hectares of the Amazon rainforest. With a team of dedicated park rangers, and continuous research and restoration initiatives, ARBIO Peru champions sustainable forest conservation. They involve both civil society and the private sector in their enduring commitment to preserve the forest.

Ecological Balance aims to combat Cameroon's forest loss, particularly around Mt Cameroon, by educating and mobilizing communities for restoration and conservation. They focus on expanding tree nurseries, adopting the Miyawaki planting method, and improving forest monitoring to ensure long-term sustainability. Their efforts emphasize the forests' cultural and economic importance.

Miti Alliance is spearheading an effort to plant 5 million trees using native species in essential water catchment areas. They integrate these actions with sustainable tourism by providing educational tree-planting opportunities, developing an environmentally friendly educational center, and building a tree museum.

ICE Kenya leads a vital project in Eastern Kenya, engaging communities to restore degraded sacred forests and wildlife corridors. The project aims to curb forest destruction and human-elephant conflicts, fostering ecosystem vitality and community resilience against climate change. Through capacity-building, reforestation, and support for sustainable practices like beekeeping, ICE Kenya is driving a holistic approach to conservation and community well-being.

WildlifeDirect takes proactive measures to safeguard the Africa's iconic species. Through initiatives like the Wildlife Warriors TV series, WildlifeDirect promotes African leadership in conservation efforts, inspiring action and awareness among local communities. By engaging in education, advocacy, and legal action, WildlifeDirect strives to change attitudes and behaviors towards wildlife, ensuring a sustainable future for Africa's unique biodiversity.

Acción Andina aims to protect and restore one million hectares of high Andean forests, particularly Polylepis, over 25 years. The initiative focuses on conserving 500,000 hectares and restoring an equal area while promoting community-led natural resource management. This initiative is powered by Global Forest Generation and ECOAN.

This initiative is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Rwanda's natural wetlands. Understanding that human-related threats, often stemming from poverty, livelihood challenges, and lack of awareness, alongside competition between humans and animals for habitat, drive these issues, the project adopts a community-driven strategy that also aims to enhance local livelihoods.

Amazon Frontlines empowers Indigenous communities to safeguard their ancestral lands and combat the escalating threats posed by resource extraction. They are spearheading a movement to preserve the world's most biodiverse rainforests while advancing thriving, resilient Indigenous communities.

Ecoswell focuses on environmental education, creating conservation areas, and developing ecotourism with local communities, alongside conducting water quality tests and using vetiver plants for bioremediation to restore soil, biodiversity, and water cycles. These efforts aim to reverse desertification, reduce pollution and health risks, and restore the Quebrada Pariñas watershed, fostering a sustainable environment and economy.

People worldwide are attacked and killed for protecting forests from being logged. Human Rights Watch saves forests and protects their defenders. They shed light on human rights abuses and pressures governments to enforce legislation and policies to stop these destructive practices through investigations, exposing abuses linked to deforestation, and campaigning for change.

ProPurús supports Indigenous communities in the Peruvian Amazon to regain food sovereignty amidst challenges like food supply disruptions during the pandemic. By revitalizing traditional food production systems and promoting ancestral knowledge, they aim to build resilience and self-sufficiency, utilizing natural resources for food, medicine, and other essentials.

Gaia Amazonas works hand in hand with Indigenous communities to protect the Amazonas ecosystem. With over three decades of experience, Gaia empowers indigenous peoples by integrating their traditional knowledge into socio-environmental and cultural strategies. They strive to foster dialogue between diverse knowledge systems and facilitate collaboration with the state and other stakeholders.
